Dear MindShare Learning Community Member,

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving! We hope you've had a chance to enjoy some time outdoors with family and friends.

As we gear up for the 15th Anniversary MindShare Canadian EdTech Leadership Summit & our new Teacher Saturday Symposium on STEM AI, weā€™re thrilled to share some exciting updates, including our special 'Thanksgiving' discount for leaders and a $49 ticket offer for teachers. With just 17 days to go, itā€™s the perfect time to secure your spot!

Weā€™re also excited to bring you a Sneak Peek Podcast announcing our new partnership with Canva, the worldā€™s most widely used app in education. Canva will be joining us at the Summit from October 31 to November 2 at the University of Toronto Scarborough. Scott Nunes, educator and District Engagement Advocate at Canva, will share how Canva is transforming education in an AI-inspired world, featured in our #STEAM #AI #eSports Saturday Teacher Symposium. Donā€™t miss Scottā€™s insights on leveraging visual tools and AI to shape the future of learning!

This issueā€™s highlights include:

  • In Memoriam: Remembering my dear friend, David Roberts, co-founder and president, C21 Canada.
  • Congrats to Dr. Geoffrey Hinton, the ā€˜Godfather of AI,ā€™ on his Nobel Prize! We are honored to partner with the University of Toronto Scarborough to host our upcoming Canadian EdTech #AI Summit, where weā€™ll explore the vast implications of AI, as Dr. Hinton suggests, akin to a new Industrial Revolution.
  • Top Innovation: Discover which university ranks #1 as the most innovative in Canada!
  • Education Leadership Updates: The Toronto District School Board has named an interim Director of Education.
  • Media Literacy Week: As it approaches, learn about the importance of critical thinking and why itā€™s essential in navigating todayā€™s digital landscape. Iā€™ve registered for the "Critical Thinking Across the Curriculum" workshop for educators on October 22ā€”hope to see you there!

Last week, I attended board meetings at McGill University and was thrilled to witness their commitment to innovation in education. Following that, I joined the inspiring AWS Symposium in Ottawa, centered on AI, cloud technology, and digital transformation. I was also fortunate to meet NHL legend Mark Messier, who shared insights on leadership and building winning teams, themes that resonate deeply with the educational sector.

As we prepare for an AI-driven 'Industrial Revolution,' itā€™s essential for all education stakeholders to collaborate and shape the future together. I hope to see you at the Summitā€”together, we can build a bright future for education!

Thank you to our team, partners and board of advisors for inspiring us daily to achieve more!

Until next time, keep the digital learning curve steep! Best, R.
