3. North Carolina elementary school embraces gaming, robotics in STEM-driven relaunch

Starting in September 2025, the Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) is set to revolutionize the way students in Grades 10-12 experience skilled trades with the launch of its cutting-edge Technological Education Hub at the AMSS facility in Sarnia. This dynamic new program will offer specialized, hands-on learning opportunities across a variety of high-demand sectors, including Construction, Health and Wellness, Hairstyling and Aesthetics, Horticulture and Landscaping, Hospitality, and Transportation. |

4. Math Nation chosen for 2025-26 Iowa STEM Scale-Up program to support grades 6-12 math education
|
|
|
Math Nation, a mathematics education platform from Accelerate Learning, has been chosen for the 2025-26 Iowa STEM Scale-Up Program Menu, making it the only middle and high school math program included in this year’s selection. The Iowa Governor’s STEM Advisory Council at the Iowa Department of Education announced the program menu, which will be available to PK-12 educators across the state. The Iowa STEM Scale-Up Program provides schools and community organizations with access to high-quality STEM education programs and professional development for educators. Math Nation was one of 13 programs selected from 80 proposals submitted nationwide. Iowa educators can apply to participate in the program through a state-administered application and review process. |

5. How a District’s Embrace of Esports Is Transforming Special Education
|
|
|
Morris-Union Juncture Commission, a specialized school district in central New Jersey, has hit on an activity that many students with ASD and similar disabilities can participate in alongside general education kids, and even community groups: esports.The district offers expertise in special education to its 30 member districts, and serves its own population of about 225 students with significant learning challenges. At the suggestion of Evan Abramson, the district’s technology director, Morris-Union Juncture used a $50,000 grant to build a 12-seat esports arena, specially designed for students with cognitive and behavioral challenges, particularly ASD. Abramson believes it may be the only such facility in a school district in the country. |

When Dr. Kristina Llewellyn’s 11-year-old nephew interviewed Tony Smith — a former resident of the Nova Scotia Home for Colored Children— for a school project, the intergenerational, intercultural conversation about Smith’s lived experiences of racism was something Llewellyn wanted other students to understand. Finding belonging at the Institute led Llewellyn to collaborate with other passionate interdisciplinary researchers including Dr. Oliver Schneider from the Faculty of Engineering and Michael Barnett-Cowan from the Faculty of Health. Together, they launched the Digital Oral Histories for Reconciliation (DOHR) project, an educational virtual reality (VR) curriculum rooted in restorative justice. |

7. OpenAI and the California State University system bring AI to 500,000 students and facility
|

|
The California State University system (CSU) is taking a historic step to expand the use of AI in higher education by providing more than 460,000 students and over 63,000 staff and faculty with access to ChatGPT Edu, a version of ChatGPT customized for educational institutions. It is the largest implementation of ChatGPT by any single organization or company anywhere in the world. With a system-wide rollout across 23 campuses, CSU will become the first AI-powered university system in the United States—and a global leader in AI and education. |

10. Texas A&M eSAIL Unit Selects YuJa Video Platform and Hardware for Digital Education
|
|
|
Texas A&M University’s Engineering Studio for Advanced Instruction & Learning (eSAIL) unit has selected the YuJa Enterprise Video Platform and Hardware Hubs after a successful trial. They will form the backbone of its video content management solution, which is designed to help faculty easily design and rollout distance learning courses and programs. The YuJa Hardware Hub will be used in dozens of classrooms at the Texas A&M University core sites in the southern US state, enabling simultaneous lecture capture and live streaming of multisource content. There is also a remote device management capability, touch panel integration into existing systems, and other media engagement features designed to grab the attention of anyone accessing the University’s remote learning options.

In 1995, the House of Commons declared a national Black History Month, which went into effect in 1996. Black History Month exists to remind us all of the rich contributions within our society from people of African and Caribbean decent, and of their ongoing struggle for equity and social justice. Teachers have the opportunity to engage their students, not only during this month but throughout the school year, on recognizing the strengths and resiliency of communities that historically have been marginalized, as well examining issues of racism and the impact of discrimination on these communities. |

3. Valentine's Balloon Dash Scratch Project Generator, powered by AI
In this project, students will develop a game where different colored heart-shaped balloons float across the screen while the puppy character tries to catch them. Each time a balloon is caught, the score increases, but if a balloon disappears, the score decreases. The project will involve cloning balloons at random positions, using variables to track points, and implementing sensing to determine if the puppy catches a balloon. Messaging can be used to signal when a balloon is created or disappears.
