AI with Intention: Principles and Action Steps for Teachers and School Leaders |
Make sure your tech initiatives put students first with this robust guide for teachers and school leaders. With new artificial intelligence tools sweeping into districts and schools, educators must be able to assess the tools' benefits and limitations and determine if and how they might serve students. Teaching and leadership expert Tony Frontier provides the insight and knowledge necessary to use these tools effectively and responsibly. AI with Intention presents guiding principles and action steps that address both the issues and the opportunities that come with artificial intelligence. School leaders will learn how to cultivate a schoolwide understanding of AI, implement student-centered practices that support academic integrity, and ensure that effective teaching and learning remain the school’s top priority. Teachers will learn how to efficiently and effectively use AI tools to help their students engage in the productive struggle necessary for learning. New and evolving technologies can be exciting, but as Frontier points out, how we respond to innovation is more important than the innovation itself. This book is a roadmap for all educators looking to better understand and incorporate AI in ways that support—rather than undermine—effective teaching and learning. |

Canva has launched a groundbreaking integration that allows users to create, edit, and translate designs directly within ChatGPT, combining conversational AI with real-time visual design. The feature enables instant generation and modification of presentations, marketing materials, and social posts through simple prompts, maintaining layout and formatting while adjusting tone, language, or content. This partnership with OpenAI marks a major advancement in creative workflows, building on Canva’s earlier “deep research connector” that let users search and summarize design files in ChatGPT. Available to Free, Plus, and Pro users outside the EU, the integration positions Canva as a leading visual layer in the emerging AI-powered creative ecosystem. |

3. Quebec school app pulled offline after major security flaw exposes parents’ data
https://www.ctvnews.ca/ |October 8, 2025
HopHop, a Laval-based app used in hundreds of Quebec schools and daycares, was taken offline after a cybersecurity flaw exposed parents’ personal information. A security expert discovered that data, including parents’ names, photos, contact details, children’s names, and school information, could be easily accessed between October 3 and 7, 2025. HopHop suspended its app and servers while working with the Ministère de la Cybersécurité et du Numérique to fix the issue and confirm no data was stolen. The incident sparked concerns about digital security in education, with experts urging stronger investment in privacy protection and the province reminding schools of their responsibility to ensure compliance with data laws. |

Bett UK 2026 has released a new whitepaper on the UK’s SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) crisis, featuring insights from over 1,000 teachers about the challenges facing students and educators amid proposed government reforms. The research reveals widespread concern, with half of teachers fearing reduced funding for mainstream schools and two-fifths believing disadvantaged pupils are often misidentified as having SEND. Many educators see both the social benefits and academic challenges of integrating SEND students into mainstream classrooms, highlighting tensions between policy and classroom realities. The whitepaper underscores the urgent need for sustainable funding, training, and practical support to bridge the gap between reform ambitions and the real-world experiences of teachers and learners. |
