Dear MindShare Learning Community,
As we reflect on 2025, it’s clear this was a landmark year for Canadian learning and innovation. From the rapid evolution of AI in classrooms to major breakthroughs in digital equity and literacy, the stories we’ve shared and celebrated are nothing short of inspiring.
This special December edition of our eMagazine proudly presents the Top 25 Canadian Learning & Technology Innovators and NewsMakers of 2025, a dynamic group of trailblazers shaping the future of education across K-12, postsecondary, government, research, and industry sectors. These leaders are redefining what’s possible when bold ideas, collaboration, and cutting-edge technology converge.
Among this year’s standout moments, none was more impactful than the Canadian EdTech AI Summit, our biggest and best gathering to date. Held at the University of Toronto, the birthplace of deep learning and home to the grandfather of AI, the Summit brought together visionary educators, technologists, and policymakers to explore how AI can be harnessed to elevate teaching and learning across the country. It was a fitting venue for bold ideas and boundary-pushing dialogue at a time when Canadian leadership in AI is more essential than ever.
Among this year’s standout recognitions:
-
C21 Canada’s AI Task Force Report, spotlighting the future of AI in Canadian education with real-world use cases from Dell and others.
-
ContactNorth AI Tutor Pro, now used over 2 million times by students and educators.
-
Nelson’s AI literacy toolkit launch, helping Canadian students thrive in a digital-first world.
-
University of Alberta’s transformation into Canada’s Top AI University.
-
AMI’s partnership with Google, launching AI-powered literacy tools for everyone.
-
And a wave of innovation from K-12 champions like Jordan Smith, our K12 Educator of the Year, and districts like Peel, recognized for their leadership in tech adoption.
It’s also been a year of courageous conversations and system-wide transformation. From addressing student data privacy to spotlighting Indigenous innovations, our Top 25 honourees have demonstrated that meaningful change happens when we listen, act, and innovate with empathy and equity at the core.
Looking ahead, we’re already preparing for an even more momentous 2026 as we celebrate MindShare Learning’s 25th Anniversary. We’re deeply grateful for your continued trust and engagement, and we look forward to honouring this milestone with you at the 34th Can/Am Celebration of Excellence at FETC 2026 in Orlando.
